Brief Description (Abstract):

As a part of High Altitude Cloud Physics Laboratory Aerosol chemistry instrumentation, the Aethalometer is an instrument that provides a real-time readings of the concentration of âBlackâ or âElementalâ carbon aerosol particles. It is an Automatic compact instrument that measures the rate of change of optical transmission through a spot on a filter where aerosol is being continuously collected and uses the information to calculate the concentration of optically absorbing material in the sampled air flow.

Purpose: Real time monitoring of concentration of black or elemental carbon and estimation of its radiative forcing
