Brief Description (Abstract):

As a part of Radar and Satellite Meteorology project, the Joss-Waldvogel Impact Disdrometer has been deployed at Mandhardev, a remote location in the complex terrain of the Western Ghats to understand the microphysical properties of precipitation. The instrument continuously provides the measurement of raindrop size distribution, rain rate along with other integrated rainfall parameters with a sampling interval of 30 sec. The observations are carried out as a part of the monsoon campaign over Mandhardev.

Status: Ongoing

Purpose: To better understand the microphysical properties of precipitation over Western Ghats using raindrop size distribution.
