Organized by
International Training Centre for Operational Oceanography (ITCOocean), ESSO-INCOIS,
Hyderabad, India

Overview

INCOIS is executing Vertical-2 of the Deep Ocean Mission (DOM). One of the major components of this vertical is observation with deep sea gliders. In view of this INCOIS has procured Deep Sea Slocum Gliders from M/s Teledyne Webb Research, USA. These deep-sea gliders will be used to measure data repeatedly along the central Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.

Under this training program the trainees will be provided both classroom and hands on training. The classroom part includes training on Dockserver, Glider Terminal, and Software, Ballast tank hardware, Glider control & TWR tools, glider communications & Data Visualizer. The theory class will be followed by sea trials where the trainees will be training in launch and piloting the gliders. Following the sea trials the trainees will be taught about data downloading & Processing, Glider Maintenance & Care.

Aims and Objectives

  • Over view of Sea Gliders.
  • Understanding the various components Gliders, Software.
