Q: What are the opening hours of the KRC?
Library open 9AM to 5.30 PM hours in all working day except the Institutional holidays.

Q: What are the telephone numbers for contacting the KRC?
The Main Service Desk on +91-40-23886040. Contact information for the KRC, including fax number and e-mail addresses, is given in contact page

Q: How do I join the KRC?
Scientist and staffs at ESSO-INCOIS are registered automatically. The membership will be created on production of copy of your office order. Non-members of the ESSO-INCOIS are also welcome to use the services.

Q: How do I find material in the KRC?
Check OPAC, the online catalogue, first. It is accessible from any terminal within the campus. If you can't find what you need in OPAC, then you can communicate to Service Desk.

Q: What should I do if I can't find a documents book?
OPAC, the online catalogue, will tell you if the item has been borrowed. If it's not on loan and not where it should be on the shelves, it might be in the re-shelving section or being consulted. If you still can't find it, ask at the Service Desk

Q: What is a periodical?
A magazine, journal, newspaper, or annual publication which is published at regular intervals The KRC subscribes to a large number of periodicals, mainly in print form but also as e-journals. All of these are listed in KRC Home page, so if you're looking for a particular Book, CD/DVDs title, do a search in OPAC. However, if you're trying to find articles on a topic, try searching one of the many databases bought by the KRC.

Q: How many items can I borrow?
Staff may borrow up to 5 books, 2 CDs, 2 Bound Volumes from the Collection, at one time, counted as part of these totals

Q: For how long can I borrow a document?
Subject to recall by another reader, you may borrow books for a period of one month (30 days) from the date of issue (stamped in each book). If an item is recalled from you, by e-mail notice, the minimum length of time you will have it for, is one week

Q: How do I renew an item?
You may renew material up to three times, if required. readers must return material before it can be renewed. Distance learners should e-mail library@incois.gov.in with any renewal queries

Q: How do I reserve an item?
If you see, from OPAC, that an item is on loan, you can communicate to us recall it for your use. The person who has borrowed it will be sent an e-mail notice requesting its return, and you will be e-mailed when the item is available for collection. Every reader will have an item for at least one week, unless it is recalled urgently.

Q: Where can I address my queries?
The Service Desk acts as the first point of contact for enquiries. Staff there will arrange appropriate assistance for you.

Q: How do I find information on a subject?
If you're researching a topic and trying to find relevant books/articles, you will need more detailed information than a FAQ can provide. If you ask at the Service Desk, staff there will assist you on fulfilling your need.

Q: What electronic resources are available to me?
KRC subscribes various online databases to help you with your research. They cover most subjects related to our core area Please ask for individual assistance with these resources, if you need it Please note - due to licence restrictions, only scientists and staffs of the ESSO-INCOIS are eligible to use the online resources

Q: Do I need a password to use electronic resources?
The subscribed e-resources can access, from any terminal on the campus network without a username and password. A few databases require an ATHENS username and password for on-campus access, but most can be accessed without this. All e-journals to which we are entitled to access are also freely accessible from on-campus. The best way to access a specific e-journal is to do a search in e-journals list provided at homepage. In general, if you are asked for a username and password for access to an e-journal, it will be because we are not entitled to access it

Q: Are there computers I can use in the KRC?
Staff and researchers are welcome to use the computers available for searching catalogues, online databases and the Internet, using e-mail, word-processing, spreadsheets, etc.

Q: Where can I print out my work?
The PC cluster in the premises is networked to laser printers in the same area. If you need print for more copies, ask at the Service Desk.

Q: What photocopying facilities are available?
If you need assistance, please ask the Service Desk or supportive staff.
